General,
It has been reported to General Johnston, that sick and wounded soldiers passing over the Rail Road running from Montgomery & Mobile and those from Selma & Demopolis, westward, are frequently made to stand the platform whilst the seats are taken up by citizens and well men. He directs me to call your attention to the fact, & requests officers comdg at Posts in your Dept, be instructed to see that in every instance wounded & disabled soldiers are furnished with seats in the cars. The guards on the Rail Roads should see to this.
Very Respectfully
Your Obdt Servt

Maj. & Asst Inspec Genl
