| I am instructed by Maj Genl
Magruder to inquire by what authority you presumed to advertise for
mechanics in the C. S. Army, Without consulting him previous. You are
hereby informed that no enlisted man in the employ of the Railroad
Company shall be paid more than those in the Ordnance Dept. and unless
you comply with these instructions and obtain authority first from these
Head Quarters, every detailed man in your employ will be returned to the
ranks. An immediate reply is expected. |
