| I am directed by the Maj Genl
Comdg to say, In a recent conversation had with Mr Haines Supr C&S R. R.
in reference to the connection of the C&S and SC RR crossing the new
bridge over Ashley River, he was informed that as yet no steps had been
taken to procure cars and locomotives in contemplation of the completion
of the work. Genl Ripley further informs him, that he does not
understand the work to be turned over to him by the Council, in view of
which facts the Maj Genl desires to know if it is contemplated to finish
the work, and connect the two R. R. for if so, he desires to establish
depots for Quartermasters and Commissary Stores, it is therefore
important that he should be informed. |
