In answer to your communication dated from the 24th to the
30th Octr, and which absence from this city has heretofore prevented my
attending to, I reply as follows: |

11. In reference to the iron on the Warrenton Branch
{Orange & Alexandria RR} & Fredericksburg
RR {Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR}
I would urge upon you the necessity of affording every facility for the
removal of the iron upon the Roads, and trust that your efforts in this
respect, and especially on the RF&P RR will be successful. |

12. The necessity of reconstructing Pearl River Bridge & of
removing the iron from the Mississippi Central RR should be impressed
upon Col Garnett & Maj Meriwether. It would be well for these officers
to confer with Maj. Lockett previous to taking any steps in this
direction. |
