| The letter of Mr McDaniel
agent for collecting negroes complaining of the conduct of the RR Agent
at Kingville {South Carolina RR} in
delaying the transportation of certain negroes together with the
enclosed letters of explanation returned by you to these Hd Qrs has been
considered by the Comdg General, who can come to no other conclusion
than that there was an undue delay in the transportation of the negroes
in question, that the Rail Road officials were neither prompt or
obliging but on the contrary, evinced a spirit which was highly
obstructive to the public interest, which it is hoped will not be
repeated in view of the obligation of all in an hour like this to do
their best to advance the common cause. |
