The Lieut. Genl. Comdg directs that you allow no
interference with the transportation of salt on any of the lines of
Railroad within the limits of the Dept. except on occasions of the most
urgent and imperative necessity of the Army for supplies, whose
forwardment cannot be made in conjunction with private stores of this
character. Under these circumstances alone will you permit any hindrance
in the shipment of salt, to be immediately resumed when the exigency
requiring its detention shall have passed. |
