General,
   *****
Is it practicable to take up and ship to Meridian by RR three miles of iron, spikes &c from the Memphis & Charleston RR East of Tuscumbia. Iron is immediately needed for an important road in this vicinity, and the Lieut General Comdg desires that if possible it be taken from the Road above mentioned which is now of little or no use to the Confederacy. If you undertake to send the iron it must be done promptly before injunctions can be got out by the owners of the road.
