I am directed by the Lieut Genl Comdg to say in reply to
your letter of the 11th inst, that the question of money & labor for the
Rail Road between Montgomery & Union Springs was all arranged, but that
on application to Genl Lawton, he was informed that the Iron could not
be spared Genl Taylor was of a different opinion & so telegraphed Genl
Lawton, but has rec'd no reply. |
