NA, CSN 8/15/1864

Selma, August 15, 1864

Commander J. M. Brooke
Richmond, Va.

Quartermasters and railroads will not transport guns without stringent orders from Richmond. Guns will be ready for Columbia {at Charleston, S. C.} when railroads are repaired. Have sent thirty guns to Mobile, two to Peedee. Will turn out one gun every five days. Could double it with two additional first-rate blacksmiths. Want copper. Have old bronze guns been tried for sabots?
