   A bill for the relief of the Brunswick & Albany Rail Road Company of the State of Georgia.

Whereas the Brunswick & Albany Rail Road of Georgia has been run and worked as a Military necessity from the month of September, Eighteen hundred and sixty one, up to the present time, by which the Company has incurred a debt of some Forty eight thousand dollars, and
Whereas the Stockholders of the said Road have not charged the Government for the use of the said road, which cost over a million of Dollars, neither for wear and tear of iron, machinery, cars &c, and
Whereas early in June Eighteen hundred and sixty one, the President and Treasurer of the said Company left the State of Georgia for New York, having in his possession all the assets of the Company, and has not been heard from since the month of July Eighteen hundred and sixty one, leaving the Company without funds,
Therefore the Confederate States of America do enact, that for the relief of the said Brunswick & Albany Rail Road Company, the stock and bonds returned to the Receiver at Savannah as property of Alien Enemies, and sequestered or which may be sequestered, shall be appraised, and not put up at public auction, and that one appraiser shall be appointed by the Judge of the Confederate States for the District of Georgia, one Appraiser shall be appointed by the Board of Directors of the Brunswick & Albany Rail Road, and these two shall appoint a third. The stock and bonds being appraised, the said Rail Road Company, through its Directors shall have the privilege of paying into the Receiver at Savannah at any time within ninety days after the said appraisement, the appraisal value of the said stock and bonds, and become possessed of the same, and the title to the said bonds and stock upon payment of such appraised value as aforesaid, shall vest in the said Brunswick & Albany Rail Road Company.
