Chief of Engineer Bureau

Col.,
Mr. Mallory will probably let me have the Torpedo. He says he must consult the Commander, but thinks there will be no difficulty.
I want Col. Stevens to let me have two Lighters.
I wish to get a detail of 20 men from General Wises command at the Chaffin's Bluff. G. Wise's men to be selected, good men -- with one or two rough Carpenters.
I wish to get a man named Maddox, a Machinist from Col. Gorgas.
All to be ready to go down to Clarimont, the estate of Mr. William Allen, on Tuesday morning, to bring up a Locomotive & cars.
Very respectfully
Your obt Servt
Chas. F. M. Garnett
Commissioner
