| Dear Sir, |
| I find from a bond of the Va. C. R. R. Co.
in my fathers papers that the Co. hired two men of him during last year
(as I believe they have done for many years) -- Armistead & Charles. But
the negroes did not come home at Xmas & I have not heard anything from
them or from the Compy, respecting them. |
| I suppose they are still in the Employ of
the Compy, but would like to know what is the fact in the case |
| Will you do me the favor to hand this
letter to the proper office & request him to inform me by letter what he
may know is the promises. |
