Dear Sir, |
As we had no written contract with Mr.
Ashe for the balance of the Rails, we thought it best to propose one
which we do & hand it herewith which you can sign & return, or
keep a copy & sign & return that nothing ????? |
We forwarded you a statement of the
delivery a few days since. Please send a remittance for the Part
portion. There were a few left on the wharf, but not being enough for
a lighter load, we disposed of them to one of the Roads here. Genl{?}
Ashe authorized us in the beginning to do this. |
We hope you will take good care of our JRA
now with you and when you can do better than to retain him return him
to us. |

We hereby sell to S.
L. Fremont Esq Ch Eng & Supt Wilmington & Weldon Rail Road Co.
Four hundred Tons T Rails, weighing between fifty & fifty one
pounds per yard for which we agree to take in payment old Rails at the
rate one ton of old Rails and twenty eight dollars in cash for each
ton of the new Rails, the old Rails to be delivered by the 1st Jany
1862. The new rails to be delivered on the wharf of the Richmond &
Danville RRd Co. and the old Rails at Weldon at which points they are
to be received by the parties respectively. |
Should the Old Rails
not be delivered at the time indicated, the said J. R. Anderson &
Co are to be allowed interest on the amount ??? then at Weldon at
Thirty two dollars per ton. |
