Dear Sir,
As we had no written contract with Mr. Ashe for the balance of the Rails, we thought it best to propose one which we do & hand it herewith which you can sign & return, or keep a copy & sign & return that nothing ?????
We forwarded you a statement of the delivery a few days since. Please send a remittance for the Part portion. There were a few left on the wharf, but not being enough for a lighter load, we disposed of them to one of the Roads here. Genl{?} Ashe authorized us in the beginning to do this.
We hope you will take good care of our JRA now with you and when you can do better than to retain him return him to us.
Very Truly,
J. R. Anderson & Co.
