South Carolina RR} |

Dear Sir, |
As we are purchasing large quantities of
Pig Metal in Georgia and Alabama it has been found necessary to send a
considerable portion of it via Atlanta & Augusta. |
Robertson has agreed to transport it over
the Wilmington & Manchester Road at $3.50 and Fremont over the
Wilmington & Weldon at $3-- per ton including that already sent
forward without conferring with us. At the same rates we charge on
your road would be $2.50 per ton. Will you not prorate with the Roads
South of you. If so please give instructions that the freight on the
lot already forwarded be reduced as the other superintendents have
done. This iron comes all the way from the Gulf of Mexico, and as we
desire to supply all the demands upon us at reasonable rates, we hope
the Roads will aid us in doing so. If you see Geo. Yonge {Superintendent,
Georgia RR} please confer with him, but let us hear from you as
early as possible as we have more iron ready to ship. |
Very Truly |
