Dear Sir, |
We have a letter today from Mr. Carrington
in regard to the freight on our old Rails. He informs us that the
freight on the Ch & S. C. RRd {Charlotte
& South Carolina RR} will be 2 1/2c per ton per mile and
on the N. C. RR {North Carolina RR} 3 1/2c. he has written to Mr. Cameron asking a
reduction in his rates. The distance from Columbia to Richmond by this
route is about 467 miles and the freight at 3c would amount to near
$14. |
Can't you get them forwarded by the other
route at a less cost? We will be glad to have your advise and
assistance in the matter and will await an answer to this before
ordering them on. |
Yours very truly |
