{From the minutes of the Directors' Meeting of the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR, July 26, 1861}

 
   The President reported to the Board the results of sundry Surveys and Estimates he had had made for a railroad connection between this Company's road and that of the Richd & Petersburg Rail Road Company and of negotiations and correspondence in relation thereto had with the Governments of this State and of the Confederate States and with Sundry rail road Contractors.
   Whereupon on motion it was Resolved That the President be authorized to make such an arrangement as he may deem most expedient for constructing and using a rail road connection if practicable along 8th Street below the depot of this Company and that of the Richmond & Petersburg Rail Road Company; The Board deciding it not expedient at this time to incur the expense of the longer, more costly, but more eligible route for said connection recommended by the President.
   The resolution was adopted, Messr Munford, Mills, Haxall & Daniel voting aye and Mr Meyers voting no.
