Treasurer's Office, Florida Railroad
Gainesville, Fla Decr 1st 1862

I, Saml A Swann, Accountant for the Florida Railroad Company, do hereby certify that, in the month of December, 1861, I packed up and took with me, all the Office effects of said Company from Gainesville to Fernandina Fla. -- among which were between six and eight volls of the Bonds of said R. R. Company -- say about 100 of the 8 pr cent Freeland, and about 100 of the Internal Impt. 7 % Bonds, all of $1000 each; and also one roll -- say about 100 of the Ocala Said Bonds, also the property of said Company.
That said Bonds were all carefully done up in packages sealed and adorned with respective number and description of Bonds in each roll.
That part of said Freeland and Internal Improvement Bonds were signed by D. L. Yulee Prest. and Geo W. Call Treasr. -- with the corporate seal of the Company attached, while the coupons on many of them were also numbered and signed by said Call.
The Ocala Said Bonds, I think, were without numbers or signed or seled while the majority of the other Bonds were also in blank.
That, during the hasty evacuation of the town of Fernandina by our forces in March last, said packages of Bonds, with many other valuable papers &c, belonging to said Company, were necessarily left in the hands of the enemy.
Saml. A. Swann
