| That Col. G. W. Lee take with him two
good assistants and proceed up the State Road {the
Western & Atlantic RR}, as far as he can safely go, and
report to me the condition of the Road with accuracy and care, and
report his expenses to the Q. M. Genl., which must be as economical
as the service to be rendered will allow, and the same will be paid
by the Q. M. General. The report to be in writing, and to give a
description of the condition of each section of the Road.
