Annual Report of the Macon & Brunswick RR
as of January 1, 1866,
Superintendent's Report

Superintendent's Office Macon & Brunswick R. R.
Macon, February 1st, 1866

Geo. H. Hazlehurst, Esq.
President

Sir,
The seventh annual report, showing the operations of this road for fiscal year ending January 31, 1866, is hereby submitted.

Earnings in confederate money from February 1 to May 31, 1865:
From freight $106,604.35
From Passage 39,319.15
     Total $145,923.50

Owing to the confederate money being worthless, it is deemed unnecessary to give expenses from February 1 to May 31, 1865, in that currency. The confederate government, however, did not pay us anything during the last six months of its existence: the expenses therefore exceeded the income during that period.
   *****
Owing to heavy rains the latter part of February last, no trains were run from February 28 to March 2, inclusive, three days; road bed was slightly washed at 2 1/2 and 6 1/2 mile post. With this exception the trains have been run with great regularity and without any accident whatever.
The iron between No. 3 1/2, Coley's Station, and No. 5, Cochran's Station, for a distance of two and one-half miles, was taken up by confederate authority in March last; this iron was used by the Macon & Western and Georgia railroad in relaying their track, (then destroyed by the federal army.)   *****
In my last report I urged upon the company the necessity of changing our present location. I must again call your attention to this matter. *****
Respectfully submitted.
G. A. Dure
