A. E. Cochran, Esq. President
Sir,
I herewith submit the fifth Annual Report of this Company, shewing the operations of the Road for the year ending January 31st, 1864.

Earnings of the Road
Up freights $46,777.03
Down  " 6,466.98
   Total amount from freight $53,244.01
Passage Up and Down 29,181.81
   Total earnings $82,425.82
The Expenses of the Road have been as follows:
For Exp. Transportation $18,491.99
For Maintenance Way 18,443.36
For Salaries 3,500.00
Loss and Damage 1,354.87
   Total $41,790.22
   Nett earnings 40,635.60

During the past year the Road has suffered from two freshets. No trains could be run on the Road on following days: May 29th and 30th; December 18th and 19th; and from the 1st to 11th January, inclusive. With the above exceptions, the trains have run regularly and without the least accident.
By comparing the business of the past year with the year previous, you will see an increase in
Freight $44,369.39
Passage 20,761.39
   Total $65,230.78
Had the Company Rolling stock sufficient, the increase would have been much greater.
On Sept. 8th last, the Warehouse at Junction was completed, and trains commenced running regularly to that Station.
Our stock of cars at present consist of
1 1st Class Passenger Car Owned by this Company
2 Freight Box "                    "
4 Platform "                     "
2       " " Owned by S. W. R. R. Co.
2       " "        "    by M. & W. R. R. Co.
6        " "         "   by N. O. J. & G. N. R. R.
1        " "        "    by Wills Valley R. R.
1 Freight Box "                       "
1 Stock "                        "
1 2d and Baggage "                        "
6 Freight Box Cars, rented from Government
All the cars above mentioned are in good running order, with the exception of two Platform cars belonging to N. O. J. & G. N. R. R. They will be repaired and put on the Road during this month.
We have three Engines on the Road, as follows:
Pulaski in good order
Gov. Crawford in shop, for repairs
Pacific in good order
The latter Engine belongs to the Wills Valley Rail Road.
The Warehouse at Macon being entirely too small to do the business of the Company, I had an addition made, which was finished October 20th last. I find, however, that another addition will probably have to be made during the year, owing to the increased business offering. I propose, during the year, to erect suitable Warehouses at Stations 2 and 2 /2.
I refer you to the report of Mr. Z. Moore, the energetic Supervisor, for the condition of Track, Road-bed, &c., he having the exclusive control of that department. Also, to Table No. 1 for principal articles transported over the Road; and Table No. 2, for Earnings of Road in detail.
All of which is respectfully submitted.
G. A. Dure
Superintendent
