| Resolved that Ch Talbott be and he is
hereby authorised to accept the Office of Superintendent of the Piedmont
Rail Road, retaining his present office in the Richmond & Danville rail
road. |

| The the President of the Company
communicate the Secretary of War, that the progress of graduation on the
Piedmont Rail Road is such, as to induce the confident belief that it
will be finished by the 16th of April, and the prompt delivery of the
iron would have enabled the Company to complete the track laying as
rapidly as the graduation. There are sixteen miles of the road unlaid --
about eleven graded except dressing up, and the remaining four well
underway. The delivery of the iron continues to be very ??? and
uncertain, has already delayed & and continues to delay the completion
of the road -- that a full force can be employed in track laying at each
end of the road if iron can be delivered to both forces, and double the
progress made on ???. That the largest portion of the iron is ????? |
