Keysville July 8, 1864
   A called meeting of the Board of Directors was held this day at Keysville
   Present L E Harvie President Jno R Edmunds, E G Leigh Wm Palmer Directors
   Ch Talcott Superintendent made a verbal report of the extent of the damages upon the road on the 23d & 24 Jun caused by the raid of the Federal forces under command of Genl Wilson & Kantz. The depot at Junction, Prices, Meherrin, Keysville, Drakes'  Branch, Mossingford & Roanoke and their contents were burned, including the tracks in their immediate vicinity, with the water tanks, pumps, wood sheds, wood &c. The track at these points & along the road amounting in all to about twenty miles was entirely destroyed, &. The whole distance of thirty-six miles was so much injured that it was deemed necessary to relay the whole of it. This was now progressing as rapidly as possible. The Government furnishing "T-rail" for the purpose & also material & labor in addition to all that could be furnished by the Richmond & Danville & the Piedmont Rail Road Companies.
   Resolved That the??? of Capt ETD Myers for shingles, tank timber, sills &c for repairs of the Richmond & Danville Rail Road are approved by the Board and his acts ratified by the same.
   The President submitted contracts entered into with the Nashville & Chattanooga rail road Co & the East Tennessee & Va Rl Rd Co for the use of Engines & cars of said companies upon this road accompanied by letter of June 6th & 30th from Lt Col F W Sims of the Rail Road Bureau. The contracts were approved.
