| The President submitted to the Board the
action of the Convention of Railroad Officers held in Richmond on 5th
Feby 1862 when on Motion of Jno R Edmunds it was ordered that |
| Whenever the Railroads in the 4th division
named in the report to the Railroad Convention, to the extent of sixty
per cent of the interest embraced in that division shall agree to unite
in the measure proposed to locate a Central Rolling Mill and Machine
Shops & foundries to supply the pressing wants of the Railroads of this
section, the President of the R. & D. R Road is authorised to pledge
this Company to advance an amount not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars
in behalf of this Company, in aid of that enterprise |
| Whereas: Many articles indispensable in
the working of the Richmond & Danville RR cannot be obtained in the
Confederate States, but must be imported from foreign ports |
| Resolved: That the President is hereby
authorized to furnish to any agent selected for the purpose of importing
those articles, ten thousand dollars. |
