| A regular meeting of the Board of
Directors was held at Danville this day |

| The President pro Tem submitted a report
of his action since the last meeting of the Board embracing his efforts
in regard to purchasing of supplies, together with a contract entered
into with the City of Richmond providing for a joint purchase of the
agent of the City for the wood of he City & the Company, & asks his
efforts to increase the force of operatives in the shops by increase of
pay from $11 to $15 per day what being ineffectual to remove such
increase of force, application was made to the Government Authorities
for details of men for the object; He also submitted propositions from
the South Side rail road Company relative to the transportation of
Government & private freight in fright trains over the road of the
Company, with his action in regard thereto. And a report to him from the
Superintendent of the road. |
| Whereupon Resolved that the Report of Jno
R Edmund Pres't pro tem in reference to purchase of supplies of food &
clothing for the employies of the road, and in regard the propositions
of the Companies for transportation over the road be approved. |
| Resolved That such persons as R. P
Richardson shall appoint as purchasing agents of this Company shall be
regarded as such by the Board and shall be entitled to the protection
guaranteed by the Confederate Government in making their purchases. |
| A proposition in correcting acted the 18th
day of October 1864 for the use of this road on certain terms therein
specific, having been submitted by the South Side RlRdCo, and the said
proposition having been discussed & considered as considered as unequal
in some of the particulars. |
