| Memorandum of Agreement between Lieut.
Col. Sims Chief of Railroad Bureau and John H. Edmunds President "pro
tem" of the Richmond & Danville & Piedmont Railroad Companies. |
| The Railroad Companies agree to allow the
trains of other roads to pass over the track of the Richmond & Danville
& Piedmont R. R. Companies carrying troops or freight for the Government
on payment of half rates to the owners of the track and full of
Government rates to the owners of the train. |
| Lieut. Col. Sims agrees to pay the same
rates for the use of the trains of the Richmond & Danville & Piedmont R.
R. Companies when required for Government transportation over he track
of other companies. |
| It is distinctly understood that the rates
of transportation of private freight is not in any manner embraced in
the foregoing agreement and no right affecting such transportation
involved. But each road shall adopt its own rules & rates of charge in
regard to private freight and travel. |
