Captain,
I regret that under the orders received by this office in reference to Mr D. Callahan, it will be impossible to let you have his services on the R. R. work.
Mr Callahan has instructions, when he is relieved from his present work, to send Mr S. R Kneeland, who is both an engineer and a superintendent of labor, to take charge of that portion of hands collected under Gen. Orders 86 A&IGO Series 1865 which shall be assigned to work on the Railroad connection about Atlanta. At present, under Gen Beauregard's orders Mr Kneeland cannot be spared from the fortifications.
Very respectfully
Your obt Sevt
John McCrady
