| Dear Sir, |
| You will please collect the negroes of
your county in accordance with the notice given by Lt. Col. Capers some
months ago. Let the owners choose overseers not subject to conscription.
Please send the negroes to Atlanta at the earliest day possible,
notifying me a few days in advance so that I may provide transportation
over the Atlantic & West Point Rail Road. The negroes will be returned
after working 60 days. |
