| An order from Maj. Genl Howell Cobb has
been received here to renew the Georgia Rail Road from Social Circle to
Stone Mountain, a distance of 35 miles. At the request of the Presdt &
Supt of that Company, Genl Fry Comdg Post of Augusta, requires me to
take general control of the work. To do so and give proper attention to
the Defenses of Augusta, I need the services of Jos. T. Stone Chf Engr
Atlantic & Gulf RR Savannah. Mr. Stone is a member of Co. B. 18th Ba.
Battalion, detailed by the Secy of War on June 14th 1864, to Maj Screven
Presdt At. & Gulf RR Co. Maj Screven is now willing that Mr Stone shall
be transferred to me. Please bring this matter to the attention of Genl.
