| I have the honor to acknowledge the
receipt of your letter of the 19th inst enclosing your check No. 4 on C.
S. Depository at Augusta Ga for Five thousand dollars, with duplicate
receipts for my signature. Please find enclosed the receipts duly
signed. |
| Lt. Cooper having turned over his hands to
me I have now a force of 140 negroes. All efforts at impressment have
thus far failed. |
| Genl Fry will make a further effort in the
adjacent counties. If we are successful in increasing the force I would
be glad to leave the services of Lieut Davis. |
