Atlanta Ga. Jany. 9th 1864

Lieut. Col. A. L. Rives
Acting Chief of Engineer Bureau
Richmond Va.

Colonel,
I have the honor to enclose herewith
1.   Voucher No.26 2d Quarter 1863 Henry & Co. in due form
2   Resolution of Board of Directors of the Ala. & Ten. River R. R. Company constituting A. M. Goodwin Agt. to receive money from the Confederate Govt.
3   Affidavits in reference to vouchers No. 12 1st quarter and 4 2d quarter 1863
4   Receipt of Lewis G. Gardiner, Messenger, for one hundred & fifty dollars.
Mr. Gardiner having been detained, needed money to prosecute his journey.
Will you be kind enough to indicate the course to be taken in reference to $50,000 turned over by me to Maj. Nocquet by draft on Depository at Knoxville. This was done under instructions from Col. J. T. Gilmer Chief of Bureau. Maj. Nocquet failed to receipt for or acknowledge receipt of the draft. This amount is charged against me on the Books of the Auditor.
In this case of Maxwell, contractor for Bridges, will the signature of his agent be satisfactory. Maxwell is a prisoner in Knoxville. His amount entered is correct. His agent is in Geo. and will sign the vouchers at my instance.
Very Respectfully
Yr. Obdt. Svt.
L. P. Grant
